Club Captures Fourth Such Ryan Sanders Baseball Recognition

SAN ANTONIO -- In its fifth season of existence, the Corpus Christi Hooks Baseball Club has been named Texas League Organization of the Year, president Tom Kayser announced Monday.

The Hooks join Ryan Sanders Baseball sister team Round Rock to make it four selections for RSB in the last decade. The Express won in 2000, 2001 and 2003 before transitioning to the Triple-A Pacific Coast League. Corpus Christi's selection snapped a three-year streak by the Springfield Cardinals.

"This is a recognition of overall club operations," Kayser explained, "a recognition of the club's place in the community and its stature within the league. The Corpus Christi club has developed a tremendous reputation as a valued community partner. Fans have a wonderful experience at Whataburger Field, and the Hooks are always serious about improving the quality of life in very significant ways, like helping Rotary with fundraising for the Miracle League Field."

Kayser also underscored the team's commitment to advancing baseball at all levels.

"From youth league contests before Hooks games at Whataburger Field to the South Texas Winter Baseball Banquet to the Whataburger College Classic to an ambitious slate of high school action each spring, the Corpus Christi front office always maximizes opportunities to promote our great game."

"We are grateful for and humbled by the honor," Hooks president Ken Schrom said. "There are a lot of outstanding operations in our league and so much goes into the product on a nightly basis... but the most important thing is good customer service. We are blessed with a great staff."

Schrom has served the Hooks in various management roles since the team's inception in 2003. He was elevated to the presidency on August 27 of last year.
