Astros prospect Chia-Jen Lo has been named co-pitcher of the week in Arizona Fall League action.
The Taiwanese right-hander opened the fall slate with three consecutive scoreless appearances, yielding two hits while fanning eight over six innings. Lo is 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA overall for the Peoria Saguaros. He has 10 strikeouts against one walk in 9.1 frames.
Evan Englebrook has recorded three shutout performances with the Saguaros. Surprise scored four times against Englebrook on a pair of home runs in 1.2 innings October 21. The two-year Hook has seven strikeouts, one walk and a 6.35 ERA in four outings.
Erick Abreu is another highlight on the mound for the Houston system. He has allowed one earned run thru 4.1 innings for Gigantes del Cibao of the Dominican Winter League.
In Venezuela, 2009 Hooks MVP Drew Locke is batting .375 for Aguilas del Zulia with two runs scored, two doubles and two RBIs in two games.
Locke missed the final eight games of the season with a broken bone in his left hand, but tied for fourth in the minor leagues with 170 hits and 109 RBIs. Selected by Houston from the Dodgers in the minor league phase of the 2008 Rule 5 draft, Locke set new Corpus Christi single-season records for batting average (.338) and RBIs and either led or tied for the team lead in 11 offensive categories.
Wladimir Sutil features a .333 average for Zulia, notching six runs, three doubles and four RBIs in 13 games.
