School: University of South Carolina. As a junior, hit .359 and was named All-SEC and awarded All-America honors. A career .330 hitter, helped the Gamecocks to a runner-up finish at the 2002 College World Series. Acquired: Scored a run in three at-bats last night…Signed by the Astros as a free agent in January 2009. Originally selected by the Rangers in the first round (10th pick overall) of the 2002 draft. Career Highlights: Last season, hit .365 (27-74) in July with 15 runs, four doubles, four triples and six RBI’s. Versatile in the field, last year played 31 games at 2B, 28 at SS, 22 in the outfield and five at 3B. Made his Major League debut April 21, 2006 vs. Tampa Bay when he went 2-for-5 in the Rangers’ 13-7 victory. Selected to the Texas League’s West Division All-Star team in 2005. With Frisco and Oklahoma, combined to bat .295 with 25 doubles, eight triples, three homers, 64 RBI’s and 17 stolen bases. Recorded 31 multi-hit games, including two four-hit performances. Played for the USA Baseball Junior National team that won the 1999 Gold Medal in Taiwan.
