Acquired: Signed by the Astros as a free agent this past off-season. Originally selected by the Twins in the 21st round of the 2001 draft. Career Highlights: Hit .245 for Mayaguez of the Puerto Rican Winter Baseball League in 2008 with four doubles, seven RBI’s and two stolen bases. Invited to Twins spring training last year. With New Britain last season, drove in five runs with three doubles April 23 vs. Reading. Batted .289 in 12 August games, plating five and scoring five. In 2007, posted a 16-game hitting streak from April 22-May 11, tied for fourth-best in the Eastern League, batting .400 (26-for-65). Tabbed Twins’ Minor League Player of the Week for June 1-7, thanks in part to a 4-for-5 performance vs. Altoona June 5. Named to the Eastern League mid-season All-Star team in 2006. That season, hit two home runs April 15 at New Hampshire and went 4-for-4 with four RBI’s April 20 against Reading.
