School: Stanford University. Led the Cardinal with a .376 batting average last season, posting 18 doubles, 14 homers and 73 RBI’s in 67 games en route to the College World Series. An All-Pac 10 player in 2008, he led the conference in hits (105), was second in total bases (171) and tied for third in doubles and RBI’s. Batted .309 in his three-year career with 18 HR’s and 106 RBI’s in 162 games. Acquired: Selected in the first round (10th pick overall) of the 2008 draft. Career Highlights: Named the No.1 prospect in the New York-Penn League by Baseball America last season. His .333 average for the North Shore Honu ranked second among Astros winter leaguers with 50 or more at-bats this off-season. Also notched six doubles, two homers and 13 RBI’s in 23 games with the Honu, winning All-Star honors.
