Wood, one of four original Hooks staff members, oversees day-to-day operations of the club. He served as assistant general manager and director of ticket operations for over three and a half years before assuming his current role.
In September of 2007, Wood was honored by his peers when he was selected as Texas League Executive of the Year, a distinction he shared with former boss Bill Valentine, the general manager of the Arkansas Travelers. Wood is the second member of the Hooks front office to be accorded the honor. Vice President Ken Schrom received the award following the 2005 season.
Formerly director of ticket operations for the Texas Rangers (11 years) and Dallas Stars, Michael has successfully transitioned to minor league baseball. Working for the Hooks marks his second stint in the Texas League. Wood was hired by Valentine in 1992 to be the Travelers clubhouse manager, his first job in baseball.
While with the Rangers, Michael worked the opening of The Ballpark in Arlington, the 66th Major League Baseball All-Star Game, and the Rangers' first playoff game.
Wood is an industry leader in administration of the TicketReturn ticketing system, maximizing the use of season tickets through resale, incentives programs and charitable donations. He was a key contributor in the Hooks exceeding the 500,000 mark in attendance in 2005 and setting a new record in 2006.
Michael manages the day-to-day operation of the franchise and oversees all Hooks ticket on-sale activities (single-game and season tickets), ballpark seat inventory utilization and season-ticket holder relocation. Wood established the seating manifest for Whataburger Field before the stadium opened in 2005.
Originally from Lubbock, Michael is a 1991 graduate of Austin College with a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts. He and his wife Liza, daughter Kenedy and son Keane live in Corpus Christi.
